Frequently Asked Questions

Coronavirus update

Every Sunday morning at 10am you can join our service via live stream. Due to current measures we won’t be meeting at the Nieuwe Kerk. We will update this website when there is news and send out emails with more information. If you are not receiving emails, sign-up here. You can now also watch our Sunday service with a Watch Buddy (see more info about this in the Sunday Service FAQ below).

Sunday Services (Live stream)

The gathering live stream will begin at 10am and finish around 11:00am. This video will be kept on our YouTube channel for you to watch afterwards.

No, the government has asked that church gatherings be online if possible, and for in-person gatherings to be restricted to a maximum of 30 people. This additional measure reflects the seriousness of the health crisis that we find ourselves in.

As a church we feel it is important to follow this Government guideline and support their effort to protect the vulnerable in our society. Although we could still technically gather with 30 in the Nieuwe Kerk, we have taken the decision as elders to not do this. Considerable staff focus and volunteer support are needed to run Corona ‘safe’ meetings in the Nieuwe Kerk and that energy and focus can be better deployed with connecting people to each other and streaming a Sunday morning service that connects with the whole church. This has not been an easy decision but we feel it best as we weigh up all the factors.

We have one predominantly English gathering from 10am to 11am. This will be live streamed via YouTube. The current plan is when we add another gathering, that one will be predominantly Dutch.

What does it involve?

It’s a simple concept – find one other person or family unit and commit to watching the Sunday service together for the next 6 weeks. This falls within government guidelines for allowed visitors at home, and allows you to connect regularly in-person with someone else from church. During the service you can watch together, pray together, and do communion together (if you feel comfortable, you can even share a meal together after the service).

How can I get connected to a Sunday Watch Buddy?

Invite someone who is in your life group, lives in the area or who would enjoy connecting in this way.

Are you new to Redeemer? Or you don’t know anyone yet? We can help! Fill in this form and we’ll connect you to a Sunday Watch Buddy!

Is it a one-time thing? Or am I stuck with my Watch Buddy forever?

This first Sunday Watch Buddy season will run from May to the end of June. During these two months, you’ll meet regularly with the same Watch Buddy. After that, in the next Sunday Watch Buddy season, you can partner up with a different Sunday Watch Buddy. Watch Buddies will continue until restrictions change and/or in-person Sunday services resume.

Kids – Teens – Family

The weekly kids online resources are currently only in English. (We are working on bringing you Dutch content in the coming months.) Our Sunday morning groups are a mixture of English and Dutch. We always ensure that there is at least one Dutch speaking leader in the group.

Yes, the teens meet every other Saturday at our city centre office from 17:00-19:00. For more information, please email teens@redeemerchurch.nl

We want to stay connected as lifegroups during this time but also we are also following RIVM guidelines for all group meetings. Current guidelines advise people to limit contact, and to have a maximum of 2 visitors in your home per day. In this season, most of our lifegroups are meeting online via Skype, Zoom or other video calling tools (with occasional in-person meetings if they meet RIVM guidelines).
